Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Two new councillors for Matlosana Municipality were officially sworn in this week.
Moremedi Orapeleng Petros and Inge Wilken accepted their new titles with smiles. Senior Magistrate Marionette Kirsten did the honours at the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday October 14.
Cllr Moremedi Orapeleng Petros, a Proportional Representative (PR) councillor, and Ward 39 councillor, Inge Wilken, both from the Democratic Alliance, participated in a solemn affirmation or swearing-in ceremony, during which they pledged to obey, respect, and uphold the Constitution and all other laws of the Republic of South Africa.
As newly-elected councillors, they promised to carry out their duties as members of the City of Matlosana Council to the best of their abili-
ties. “The city welcomes the two councillors, who will play a pivotal role in accelerating service delivery for the people of Matlosana,” said Ntswaki Makgetha, spokesperson.
