4 July 2025 - Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - The grandmother and her boyfriend who were arrested in connection with the death of a toddler in Stilfontein, are still behind bars.
The couple appeared in court again on Thursday June 26. The case against Marietjie Nieuwenhuizen and Carel Fouché was postponed until July 8. They were denied bail.
Earlier community members protested in front of the court that they not be released on bail. Supporters of baby Kalvin who was found dead in his grandmother’s bedroom in Clubview Street on May 15 wore printed t-shirts with his face on, to court.
