Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - And the best police station in the province is... Orkney SAPS.
You could not wipe the smile off the face of Lt Col Willie Landman when he received the certificate at the NW Excellence awards held at Sun City on Thursday November 20. As station commissioner, he served the Orkney community since September 2021. He thanked the members and staff at Orkney police station for the dedication, hard work and commitment to the Orkney community.
“This achievement of the station of the year would not have been possible without your combined effort. I am extremely proud of everyone. I firmly believe that this is not a once off achievement. I believe that this can be achieved on a yearly basis,’’ he said.
According to the judges, the police station’s overall performance resulted in the reduction of contact and property related crimes with 25,45% and 27,61%.
Final remarks were that the station management worked hard to ensure a safe and secure environment for Orkney residents. All these were achieved by ensuring that members strictly adhere to the Code of Conduct.
More good news is that neighbouring stations of Klerksdorp and Stilfontein were awarded runner-up and third place at the excellence awards.
