Klerksdorp Rekord, Orkney - A nightmare unfolded for a young man when he was involved in a brutal gang rape and robbery after robbers gained entry to the room he rents on a property close to the local high school.
The man, in his early twenties, was forced to perform sexual acts by his assailants while they were filming it with a cellphone. His rapists threatened him with a panga while having their way with him. Afterwards, they took his shoes and bank card before fleeing the scene. A police officer described what happened to the young man as sick. He is severely traumatised and receiving councelling.
While he was raped, another victim living inside the main house on the property was robbed from his money, cellphones, shoes and radio.
A woman who rents rooms inside the house, locked her and her children inside a room while the robbers were inside. When they left they pressed a panic button to alarm the security.
The suspects were described as three men and a woman.
Police caught a lucky break in the case when two of the robbers returned to the home on Tuesday July 22. The police were called and they fled the scene with the police giving chase. Eventually all four were arrested and the stolen items, as well as a cellphone with the footage of the rape, found at a home in Ext 12, Kanana were recovered.
Klerksdorp Record was told that they will appear in court this week. Investigation into the matter continues.
