Klerksdorp Record, Hartbeesfontein - The Hawks are looking into an alleged armed robbery at a game farm near Hartbeesfontein where a substantial amount of cash and more than 90 rhino horns were stolen.

Klerksdorp Record was told confidentially that the victim claims he was sleeping when three unknown suspects entered his home. He was tied up and 98 rhino horns, two cellphones and R50 000 cash were stolen. It happened in the early hours of Monday December 8.

Const Thuto Bobelo, police spokesperson, confirmed that the police are investigating the complaint. He did not disclose how many rhino horns were stolen nor the name of the lodge, although Klerksdorp Record was reliably informed that the robbery occurred at the Vietnamese-owned game farm Voi Lodge. The suspects are still at large.

Lt Col Tinyiko Mathebula, spokesperson for the Hawks, said the investigation is at a sensitive stage and he did not want to disclose more information.
