Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - In another daring robbery in Klerksdorp, a Doringkruin home was ransacked in the dead of night, and two safes containing a substantial amount of cash were removed and taken by the robbers.

The modus operandi of what happened in Apiesdoring Street in the early hours of Friday morning November 17 is earily similar to an armed robbery earlier that week in Wilkoppies.

The police’s Col Adele Myburgh said the possibility that it is the same gang of robbers are investigated. In the latest robbery, the Ford Ranger that was stolen for the robbers to get away, was found abandoned in Monica Avenue a few hours later.

The robbery was pulled off despite tight security at the property.

According to Myburgh the robbers overpowered a security guard on the premises. “They pounced at about 02:00 and gained entry through a ground floor window. Everybody inside the home was tied up while the robbers ransacked it. They also took cellphones but left it in the garden when they escaped.’’

When the victims managed to free themselves from the binding, they found their phones outside and called the police.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact WO Pieter Scheepers on 060 972 7370.
