Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The OFM/Cansa Pinktober campaign visited Klerksdorp last week for their fundraiser to collect funds for breast cancer research.

Their aim is to collect R500 000 this year by visiting five towns in their broadcasting area. Klerksdorp was stopover two. Vanderbijlpark, Bloemfontein, Bethlehem and Vryburg are the other towns to be visited. Donations for the fundraiser can be made by visiting Pinktober on OFM’s website.

The day took place at Klerksdorp Bowls Club with live broadcast of the afternoon Joyride show, followed by a game of bowls by all teams who entered, an auction to raise funds for Cansa and a supper sponsored by Beefmaster and prepared by the team from Matlosana Roundtable 45. The group Karoo entertained everyone during and after supper.

Prize winners for the day were Arnold Motors who “defended” their title of team with best spirit and the team from Stewards & Lloyds/Badger who walked away with the best dressed team.

A total of R160 000 was collected by selling off various items which included the coveted framed pink bra. The team from Arnold Motors again “defended” their title and walked off with the top prize.

Klerksdorp Bowling Club was honoured to host the event on behalf of OFM and hope the event will return to Klerksdorp next year.
