NOORDWESTER – ZEERUST - Zeerust Police are investigating cases of arson and murder after an incident was reported on Sunday, 16 November at about 08:30.
Keamogetswe Mabe (21) is expected to reappear in the Zeerust Magistrate’s Court for a bail application. Mabe was remanded in custody when he made first and second appearances in court on Monday, 17 and Tuesday, 18 November, on charges of arson and murder.
The accused was arrested on Sunday morning, 16 November, at Extension 3, Mountainview, Ikageleng Location, Zeerust, after he allegedly killed his girlfriend, Reabetswe Ntheledi (21). He then set alight the shack with the victim’s body inside. Police traced the 21-year-old suspect with the assistance of local farmers.
The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner of the North West, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, expressed his disapproval of yet another Gender-based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) related murder. He commended members of the community, the police and farming community for their cooperation that led to the arrest.
