NOORDWES – BIESIESVLEI - On Saturday, 31 May the police in Biesiesvlei were busy with regular patrols when they spotted a white Toyota Hilux looking suspicious near Omkyk farm.
The vehicle was stopped immediately and searched and six 50 kg bean bags were found.
The driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old male could not give account for his possession of these items. Upon investigation it was discovered that the beans were stolen from Omkyk farm. The suspect confessed and implicated six more thieves.
The police proceeded to their homes and more bags of beans were recovered amounting to a total of 31 to an estimated value of R46 000. They suspects appeared before the Lichtenburg Magistrate’s court on Tuesday, 3 June, but the case was postponed and they still remain in custody.
The Station Commander, Captain TP Mahube, said that all the efforts of police members are not going unnoticed and their splendid work is appreciated.
