NOORDWESTER – BIESIESVLEI - The Lichtenburg Regional court handed down a seven years imprisonment sentence, plus a three year suspended sentence to Daniel Modise (25) on Wednesday, 28 May. Modise was sentenced after being found guilty of the murder of  his friend, Thabang Setlhodi (24).

Furthermore, the accused was declared unfit to possess a firearm in terms of section 103 of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act no.60 of 2000).  The sentencing stems from an incident reported on Sunday, 5 March 2023. Modise was looking for his girlfriend, but could not find her. Along the way he met with his cousin who told him she was with Setlhodi.
According to reports, while walking in the street at Extension 2 in Itekeng, the convict located Setlhodi, took out a knife and stabbed Setlhodi on the left side of his chest. Setlhodi succumbed to his injuries at the scene of crime.
The Station Commander of Biesiesvlei, Captain Thandiswa Mahube, applauded the Investigation Officer, Sergeant Abram Jezile, for working hard in securing this sentence and urged the public never to resolve conflict with violence.
