During his absence, the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi will act as Premier. 

MEC Maloyi was sworn in by the Judge President of the North West Division, Ronald Hendricks.

Sy liggaam is vroeg die oggend van Donderdag 18 Januarie op die Oudorpkoppie gekry. Hy het ‘n skietwond in sy kop gehad en ‘n vuurwapen is op die toneel gevind. Hy het glo minute vantevore op sy motorfiets daar opgedaag en nadat hy met die hekwag gesels het, het hy na bo gery. Volgens kol Adele Myburgh, polisiewoordvoerder, het die wag ‘n skoot hoor klap en nadat hy ondersoek ingestel het, op Cronjé afgekom. Hy was reeds dood.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga announced that the matric class of 2023 achieved a pass rate of 82.9%.

Free State retained its top position nationally, with a pass rate of 89.03%. The national matric pass rate is up by 2.8% from the 80.1% pass rate in 2022. A total of 715 719 full time and 182 056 part time candidates registered to sit for the 2023 NSC (National Senior Certificate) examinations. The NW has a pass rate of 81.6%, with Dr Kenneth Kaunda at 83.5%. 

She said 282 894 qualified for university admission to bachelor studies, with KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng contributing the most passes. 

She said 187 876 candidates passed with a diploma.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Swift police action led to the recovery of various firearms stolen on New Year’s Eve when a gunshop in Irenepark was broken into.

Three suspects, aged 36, 34 and 26, were arrested after a shootout with police officers in Alabama on Monday January 15. WO Amogelang Malwetse, spokesperson of the Hawks said a multi-disciplinary team were busy with an operation to track down perpetrators involved in business burglaries in Klerksdorp. 

The team consisted of the Klerksdorp Hawks, Priority Crime Management Centre, Special Task Force, National Intervention Unit, Local Criminal Record Centre and the District Illegal mining task team members. They were acting on intelligence when they spotted an Audi TT in Alabama.
