The prize giving will take place in Dakar, Senegal in November and she will need to attend if she is one of the top 3 finalists. Voting closes on October 10. The city council already approved to pay for her travel and accommodation should she be in the top 3. But, says Cllr Inge Wilken, why does the city need to pay for these expenses? “Surely she can fund it from her own pocket? The municipality is struggling to pay creditors, settle mounting debt, and restore even the most basic services to residents.’’

Die Sewesfees wat op KHS se terrein plaasvind, skop af op Vrydag 3 Oktober met nog ‘n klomp aksie op Saterdag 4 Oktober. Die propvol program gaan behoorlik rock! Die gholf en rolbal het die afgelope naweek plaasgevind met baie gees en helder kleure. Maar die groot naweek lê voor met rugby, netbal en hokkie. Die program is verstommend - 48 rugbyspanne, 64 netbalspanne en 16 hokkiespanne! Dan is daar nog dodgeball ook waaraan 16 spanne deelneem.

Hiking, camping, spring festival at nature reserve
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Local Economic Development (LED) Directorate in the City of Matlosana, led by MMC Wesley Kgang, launched the Kwalata Hiking, Camping, and Spring Festival at Faan Meintjes Nature Reserve.
The festival is a celebration that goes beyond recreation, bringing together community, nature, and economic empowerment, said Ntswaki Makgetha, municipal spokesperson. The event was attended by the North West Tourism Board, the Matlosana Hiking Club, Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, EMRS, and hiking enthusiasts from across the region. Delivering the keynote address, Cllr Kgang emphasised the festival’s importance for both the local economy and community well-being.
Mosterdsaad is tien jaar oud
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Mosterdsaad Gemeenskapshulp het verlede week ‘n dekade van diensbaarheid aan die Klerksdorp gemeenskap gevier. Maggie van Zuydam wat aan hoof van die nie-winsgewende organisasie staan het saam met haar span vrywilligers ‘n spesiale dankie sê-oggend gereël vir skenkers wat die afgelope tien jaar al ‘n pad met die organisasie stap. Dit is by Nuwe Lewe gehou waar pastoor Wikus van Zyl ook ‘n dankboodskap gelewer het. Hy het spesifiek vir Maggie bedank wat met haar toewyding aan die gemeenskap vir Mosterdsaad uitgebou het tot die instansie wat dit vandag is.
