BRITS POS – SUN CITY - The ongoing “Vala Umgodi” operation in the Bojanala Platinum District continues to achieve successes.
This after members stopped a white Nissan bakkie and arrested four males on Tuesday, 05 November 2024, at Tlhatlaganyane village near Sun City in Rustenburg. The males, including an undocumented Zimbabwean foreign national, were searched together with the car. Police found a backpack containing two firearms and ammunition.
Bakwena’s Charity Golf Day raises R180 500 for CANSA, Thusanang Day Care Centre and HAWS
BRITS POS – BRITS –Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire (Pty) Ltd (Bakwena) hosted its 15th annual charity golf day at Centurion Country Club, raising an impressive R180 500 to benefit local charities.
Since its inception, this popular fundraiser has raised over R2.5 million to support seven community-focused organisations. To maximise the impact of the donation, Bakwena selected three charities to receive the proceeds: the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), Thusanang Day Care Centre in Groot Marico and Hartebeespoort Animal Welfare Society (HAWS).

BRITS POS – BRITS – It is only the beginning as the Vala Umgodi task teams in North West applied pressure and achieved great success.
“225 illegal miners resurfaced from underground in Orkney as a result of starvation and dehydration by SAPS and members of the SANDF who blocked communities in and around these abandoned mining shafts in Orkney from delivering food parcels, water and necessities to these illegal miners,” says Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, spokesperson for SAPS North West.

BRITS POS – CULLINAN - Stephan le Roux (49), ‘n oud-Britsie, vlieënier en vlieginstrukteur en Lourens van Niekerk (27), wat reeds sy vlieglisensie gehad het, is plotseling Vrydag, 1 November oorlede tydens ‘n vliegongeluk.
Hulle was op ‘n nagopleidinggraderings-vlug vir Lourens, toe die ligte vliegtuig, ‘n Jabiru J170 (ZU-IBE) enjinprobleme op pad na Wonderboom-lughawe ondervind het. ‘n Noodroep is uitgestuur, maar kommunikasie is verbreek en hulle is moontlik genoodsaak om ‘n noodlanding uit te voer waarna hulle toe klaarblyklik in ‘n hoogspanning-elektriese transmissiekabel vasgevlieg het, waarna die vliegtuig aan die brand geslaan, neergestort en met hulle binne, heeltemal uitgebrand het.
Duo in court for murder and defeating the ends of justice
BRITS POS – HARTBEESPOORT - Bonginkosi Gift Ndaba (31) and Sithembiso Asha Zwane (39) appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 28 October, for murder and defeating the ends of justice.
“The pair was arrested following the discovery of a 41-year-old male, Innocent Mandla Dlamini’s lifeless body under a bridge along the Lanseria road in Broederstroom, near Hartbeespoortdam on Tuesday, 22 October,” reports Colonel Adéle Myburgh, SAPS North West spokesperson.
