BRITS POS – BRITS – A shop manager and an employee at a store in Brits Mall, appeared before the Brits Magistrate’s Court Wednesday, 7 August, in connection with an alleged business robbery at Brits Mall.
Reborn Chiloane (31) and Regomoditswe Mmethi (29) were both employees at the shop where the robbery took place. According to information received, the shop had just opened on Monday, 29 July 2024 at about 08:00 and the employees were still entering the shop, when two suspects came inside the shop and threatened them with firearms.

Police in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies and other role players, including Traffic Police, Department of Education, Transnet, the Gambling Board, Community Police Forums (CPF’s), Private security companies, ESKOM and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) continue with weekly operations to prevent and combat crime.

BRITS POS – BRITS – Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire (Pty) Ltd, (Bakwena) must temporarily close the Kruger Street Bridge, because of the current N4 dual carriageway construction between Buffelspoort interchange and Dr Moroka interchange.
Road users and residents of Rustenburg are advised that the Kruger Street Bridge will be closed from 21 August until 30 July 2025.

BRITS POS – BRITIS - Investec Private Bank and the Southern African Fraud Prevention Services (SAFPS) have both observed a troubling increase in criminals targeting smartphones to gain access to sensitive data and banking apps.
According to SAFPS spokesperson Manie van Schalkwyk, cellphone thefts have been on the rise, with criminals specifically focusing on exploiting banking apps. These criminals are managing to gain access to bank accounts by using stolen smartphones and the associated banking apps.

BRITS POS – Police working with other role players worked well through enhanced crime prevention and combatting operations conducted between Monday, 29 July and Sunday, 4 August, to ensure that those who commit crimes are arrested. 
“A total of 834 suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and common, dealing in drugs, illegal dealing in liquor, possession of drugs, burglary at business and residential premises to driving under the influence of alcohol,” says Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, SAPS North West spokesperson.
