BRITS POS – BRITS - Mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund points to flat fuel prices in August, with a negligible cut on the cards for petrol and a small hike for diesel.
The data from the CEF shows that petrol prices are slated for a small cut of around 8 cents per litre, while diesel prices are on track for a price hike of between 1 to 15 cents per litre.
This is a reversal of the downward trend seen over the past few months, with prices appearing to stabilise based on global conditions.
Man nabbed while trying to sell firearms
BRITS POS – LETLHABILE - In Letlhabile, north of Brits, a multi-disciplinary team consisting of the Brits Crime Intelligence, Letlhabile Police as well as Hartbeespoortdam Crime Prevention and K9 Unit, arrested a 37-year-old man at a shopping complex in Zone 15, on Friday, 5 July 2024.
The arrest was effected after the team received and operationalised intelligence about a man who was trying to sell illegal firearms.
NA Portfolio Committees elect Chairpersons
BRITS POS – PARLIAMENT – MP Leon Basson, a resident of Brits has been elected on Tuesday as Chairperson of the Portfolio Water and Sanitation in the National Assembly.
Basson served as Shadow Minister of Water and Sanitation before the formation of the Government of National Unity (GNU). These committees are the engine rooms of Parliament where, among others, the work of the executive is scrutinised.
Bejaarde egpaar wreedaardig op plaas aangerand
BRITS POS – BEESTEKRAAL – Drie gewapende mans het Saterdag, omstreek 19:00 op die huis van die bestuurders van ‘n plaas waar daar met wild in Beestekraal geboer word, toegeslaan. Die egpaar wil nie geïdentifiseer word nie.
Hulle is in hul 70’s en het teen 17:00 tuis gekom nadat hulle patrollie op die plaas gedoen het. Die egpaar het rugby gekyk toe twee aanvallers op hulle toegesak het, terwyl ‘n derde buite wag gehou het. Hulle het geld en wapens geëis het. Albei slagoffers is vasgebind en wreed aangerand.
