BRITS POS – BRITS – The team of Vala Umgodi continues to hit hard at illegal miners in North West.
At James shaft, Stilfontein the team’s Crime Intelligence spotted four suspicious males carrying a bag Wednesday, 5 June. The operational team was mobilised and managed to arrest the suspects. The members discovered two 12-volt batteries and a winch near a ventilation shaft. The goods were apparently due to be lowered underground.
Accused to reappear in court for possession of explosives
BRITS POS – RUSTENBURG – The 40-year-old Chris “Madala” Zitha is expected to reappear in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 20 June 2024, for bail application after his first court appearance on Monday, 10 June on a charge of possession of explosives.
“Zitha was arrested at Mahumapelo Phase 1, by Marikana Visible Policing members on Thursday, 06 June, during a crime intelligence driven operation,” says Lt Col Amanda Funani, SAPS North West spokesperson.
Suspects apprehended for arson and possession of stolen property
BRITS POS – HEBRON - Hebron Police arrested two suspects for arson and possession of suspected stolen property on Thursday, 30 May, at Kgabalatsane village, Hebron, 30km northeast of Brits. It is alleged that members of the community set alight a house belonging to a local church pastor on Thursday, 30 May.
“According to information at our disposal, members of the community accused the pastor of kidnapping and keeping children at his house,” said SAPS North West spokesperson, Lt Col Amanda Funani.
