BRITS POS – HARTBEESPOORT - South African Police Service (SAPS) management in the North West is perturbed by escalating fraud cases in places like Rustenburg, Hartbeespoortdam, Lichtenburg and Klerksdorp, but this doesn’t mean that only these areas are affected, it happens all over.
“Despite regular warnings and tips by the police and financial institutions, it is apparent that fraudsters continue to defraud unsuspecting members of the community,” says Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, “it is imperative that caution is exercised when one conducts transactions with companies or individuals.

OPERATION SHANELA More than 1 300 suspects arrested
BRITS POS – BRITS - In its pursuit for safer communities through execution of various actions, SAPS High-Density Operations took place between Monday, 9 and Sunday, 15 September.
In total 1 328 suspects were arrested in North West for different offences.
“Assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) and common totals 205 arrests,” says Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone.

OPERATION SHANELA - Answers regarding illegal immigrants
BRITS POS – BRITS – From 22 July to 1 September 5 300 suspects were arrested during Operation Shanela in North West for numerous crimes and 671 of these were suspected illegal immigrants.
