Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - As part of Dyslexia Awareness Month, the NW Musikon hosted the Red Apple Dyslexia Association (RADA) on Wednesday evening October 23.

RADA is a non-profit organization geared towards supporting dyslexics and their families. They liaise with the Department of Basic Education and aim to create more awareness of dyslexia among communities and teachers. 

 

Assistance is provided for children that cannot afford assessment. During the awareness evening, Sandra Stark gave an insightful talk on the signs and impact of dyslexia on the lives of students. Alexia de Sa’ shared important facts on the proper screening processes undertaken to diagnose dyslexia and Riaan van Helsdingen shared his experiences of living with dyslexia and the struggles he faced from an early age.

The evening was concluded with a trumpet performance by Anreu Erasmus, accompanied by Sandrie van Deventer.
