Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A memorial service honouring well-known businessman Victor Ramos was held in the Roman Catholic Church earlier this week.

Vic was 63 years old. He died suddenly last week after being admitted to hospital where he was diagnosed with lymphoma. His wife, Yolandi and children, Marilyn and Rob, and their spouses, Lourens and Ella are devastated by the loss of their husband and father. “He was ill and after the diagnoses we were shattered, but we never expected it to happen so quickly,’’ a tearful Yolandi said after his memorial service.

While he lived for his children and grandchild, it was Vic’s Auto in Stilfontein that was his pride and joy. Born and bred in Klerksdorp, Vic followed in his father’s footsteps, opening his own auto electrical business in Stilfontein. From its establishment in 1998,  Vic’s Auto grew into a major player in the industry. Yolandi plans to continue this legacy for years to come, inviting Vic’s clients to stay loyal to her late husband. “He started this business with nothing and managed to leave a legacy we will never forget. His heart was open to the community and his clients, and he will be remembered for it,’’ she said.

Vic and Yolandi was planning to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary in October. Already a grandfather of one, Marilyn’s little boy, Seth, whom he adored, Vic was looking forward to his only son starting a family. Rob and his wife, Ella stay in the Netherlands where they got married earlier last year. The couple celebrated the union in December last year in South Africa, where a proud Vic can be seen smiling on family photos. In his happy place with his family surrounding him.

In a heart-breaking eulogy delivered at the memorial, Marilyn, a former Miss South Africa, and Rob, paid tribute to their dad saying they can never thank him enough for the upbringing he gave them.

The family thanked friends and family for the support and compassion experienced in their time of mourning.
