Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A rubbish truck… probably the most sought after item in a neighbourhood near you.

Refuse removal by the Matlosana Municipality has ground to a halt in certain areas. Wednesday morning March 13 a rubbish truck was seen driving in Ian Street but for weeks now, ward councillors are informing residents about if and when refuse will be removed due to problems in the city’s cleansing department.

On Friday March 8, the city’s communication department informed residents that refuse in Flamwood and Wilkoppies will not be collected. “The department of cleansing is currently addressing the matter on how to mitigate the ongoing challenges."

Residents of Orkney can’t even remember when they’ve last seen a rubbish truck.

On Monday March 11, ward 39’s DA Cllr Wolfgang Wallhorn informed residents again of no waste removal for the day. “Existing trucks are not roadworthy, and the waste removal contract is in total disarray!"

Klerksdorp Record is still waiting for an answer from the municipality regarding the allegations by the DA.
