Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The 2025 NW N12 Ultra Marathon took place on Saturday May 3 between Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp. With a sold-out capacity of 2 000 runners, the event featured two competitive race categories: the gruelling 50km Ultra Marathon and the vibrant 10km Run. 

The 50Km Ultra Marathon began at NWU McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom, to finish at the Klerksdorp Recreation Centre. An impressive field of 1 200 ultra-distance runners competed, many aiming to secure qualifying times for the prestigious Comrades Marathon.

 

 

The 10km Run, which attracted 800 participants, wound its way through Klerksdorp suburbs including Flamwood, Freemanville, and Wilkoppies, ending with cheers and celebration at the Klerksdorp Recreation Centre. 

The first woman in the 10km race was Tebogo Mokgosinyane (Nedbank RC) in 40:17, with Dino Nako (PTC AC) the first man in 30:23. The first woman in 50km Ultra was Dikeledi Majara (Lesotho, Nedbank RC) in 3:12:36. Samuel Sibeko (Mr Price AC KZN) won the men’s race in 2:52:00.

The race organisers are already gearing up for the next leg of the N12 Running Series, with the 21km Half Marathon and 5km Challenge scheduled for October 4.
