Lentswe. Klerksdorp - Senior Magistrate Marionette Kirsten sworn in two new councillors last week. Pakiso Mqikela and Nozuko Tiyo were formally sworn in as the City of Matlosana councillors at the Klerksdorp Magistrate Court. Matlosana’s Speaker of Council, Cllr Stella Mondlane, presided over the event.
Looting suspects in court
Lentswe, Potchefstroom - Six of the nine suspects arrested during community protest that took place in Ikageng Township on Monday August 19 are still in custody after appearing in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court. The other three accused who are juveniles, were released by the court on Tuesday August 20.
Good start for preparatory exams in NW
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Preparatory examinations for Grade 12 learners in the province commenced successfully on Monday August 19 despite challenges encountered at a few schools.

A star is born
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Naledi Dikhudu, a Grade 11 learner at THS Klerksdorp, is back from the International Association of Majorette-sport in Agen, France as part of the Central Senior South African team. The team comprises drummies from North West, KZN and the Free State. Naledi, which means “star” in Sotho, was 9 years old when she caught the drummie “bug”. She started in KPS’ Drummie Club and proceeded to the THS Drummie squad and is now the team captain for the THS All Stars Drum Majorette team for the second season.
