Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The 10th National Excellence Awards were held in Durban last weekend. North West based police officers brought home seven trophies from the function held on Sunday January 26. The awards, under the theme “Saluting Those Who Shine in the Line of Duty” were held to reward members and employees who excelled and went beyond the call of duty and contributed immensely towards the achievement of organisational strategic objectives in the financial year 2023 / 20.

Lentswe, Khuma - The Premier of North West, Lazarus Mokgosi, visited Khuma as part of the Thuntsha Lerole program. Accompanied by key officials, including MEC of Agriculture Cllr Madoda Sambatha, Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana, Cllr Fikile Mahlophe, and Speaker of DR KK, Cllr Xlolile Nxozana, the Premier was overseeing the inspection of pothole patching and handed over certificates for beekeeping and honey harvesting.
This initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to accelerate service delivery and address challenges faced by local communities. The Thuntsha Lerole program has been rolled out across various municipalities in the North West province, providing integrated services such as water and sanitation, roads maintenance, infrastructure projects, waste management, and health and social services. 

Lentswe, Vaal Reefs - VR Technical High did exceptionally well in the NSC exams. 67 Learners sat for the exam with 63 achieving 36 bachelors, 22 diploma and 5 higher certificates. “VRTHS, you have made it. This is a massive improvement by 30%. The school was at 63,7% in 2023,” said the principal Ramoeletsi.  “This is a historic performance since the inception of the school. We thank all the school community and the department for making it possible against all odds,” she added.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng, reiterated that police and other law enforcement agencies across the province will continue to squeeze the space for criminals when responding to serious and violent crimes through Operation Shanela, which is focused on enhanced crime prevention and combatting. “Police visibility was heightened over the past weekend through spontaneous roadblocks, stop and searches and other actions whereby the authority of the state was once more stamped. Some 1 567 suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder, rape, aggravated armed robberies, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and many others.

Lentswe, Pilanesberg - Police at Sun City request community assistance in locating a missing 23-year-old Tanki Thetso who is residing at Lekwadi Section Ledig village. He is a Lesotho national.
According to information received, he was last seen by his girlfriend on August 22 2024.  “A search was conducted around the village and surrounding areas of Sun City with no success. “All leads were followed-up without successful results. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing blue overall.
