Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Matlosana Chess Association is a local structure that’s been tasked with promoting chess within the Matlosana Municipality. It is the brainchild of the Department of Sport. Their journey to the Moja tournament at Riversands Conferencing in Fourways on April 26 was riddled with setbacks. The association had financial struggles but managed to compete.
Runners line up for the NW N12 Ultra
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The 4th Edition of the NW N12 Ultra Marathon will be held this weekend. On Saturday May 3 runners will line up for the most anticipated road-running event in the province with the route stretching on the N12 between Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom.
Football bonanza over Easter
Golden Masters and Zamalek Masters clashed at the Easter tournament in Ext 7 West on April 20. Golden Masters beat Zamalek on penalties. Seen are Mafa Matong, Isaac Nong, Jan Makinani, Ronnie Mokgethi, Donald Sekao, Buti Benz Monamidi, Kabasi Kabasi, Papi Modisapudi, Quinty Sweetmilk, Shakes Madangu and Kamogelo Mojaki.
Dreams come true
Palesa Lehasa from Khuma is proud of her medal she received after completing the Two Oceans 56 km marathon. “I am still on cloud nine after the surprise congratulatory celebration party my team and colleagues at Khuma Transnet Community Centre threw for me! Completing the marathon was an incredible achievement, and their recognition and support mean the world to me.’’ She finished the marathon in a time of 5hours and 11minutes, bagging a bronze medal.
Sport over Easter weekend
Lentswe, Jouberton - Monna Sechabeng and various government departments present a Jouberton Easter soccer tournament for 16 primary schools in the township over Easter weekend. Netball, skipping and jukskei will be played from April 19 to 21 at Kgarejane and Brazil Stadium, Jouberton swimming pool, Makoorta stadium as well as Matlosana stadium (finals).
