Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Bafana Bafana kick off their Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon 2025) run against Angola on December 22 at the Stade de Marrakech in Morocco. The upcoming edition has thrown South Africa in Group B, alongside familiar Southern African rivals Angola and Zimbabwe, and continental heavyweights Egypt, Africa’s most decorated nation with a record seven titles. Two games against Angola and Zimbabwe will be played in the West of Morocco in Marrakesh, as well as a trip to the southern coast in Agadir to face Egypt.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Chess players from the region are making waves in their community. The Dr Kenneth Kaunda chess region was the only NW region to be invited to take part at the Gauteng Inter-Regional Championship this past weekend at the Emerald Casino in Vanderbijlpark.
New SAFA committee
SAFA Dr Kenneth Kaunda Region elected their new committee. They are the president, Orapeleng Setlhare, the three vice presidents, Doreen Ntlatseng, Mohau Mokhele and Freedie Dunjane, the secretary is Sandile Boko, Collen Mamabolo is the treasurer and the additional members are Donald Moses, Lerothodi Kgalapa, Letlhogonolo Sephakwe, Innocent Rapakeng, Kealeboga Morake and Rosey Diphoko.
Charity can be fun
The Brothers Pot hosted a fun walk against GBV and a soccer tournament last weekend. The Peach House FC took the Cup and they won a trophy and a sheep. This was the 3rd Annual Charity event, where the community also received blankets and groceries.
New netball court shines in Kanana
Lentswe, Kanana - PEP mini Netball marked a proud milestone with the official handover of a newly refurbished netball court to Kanana Primary School. The upgrade forms part of Dumis’s Choice, powered by PEP, an initiative launched this year to reward one deserving school with a court makeover valued at R200 000. Kanana Primary School was selected as the 2025 beneficiary and received a full court resurfacing, new line markings, brand-new netball poles, and secure perimeter fencing, as well as new balls and bibs for its young players. The investment provides young players a safe, reliable space to train, learn, and grow through sport.
