Klerksdorp Midweek, Orkney - Residents next to the Vaal River at Orkney Vaal, private small holdings, the boating club etc were told to evacuate over the past weekend with the Vaal River in flood.
Animal shelter in dire straits
Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Orkney & Klerksdorp Animal Shelter is flooded - the fifth flooding for 2025. “Last week, we lost our bakkie on top of this. It is nonstop and just more issues and problems on top of everything else,” said Diane Jacobs of the shelter. The shelter needed to close for a few days because they could not accommodate more animals or help animals in needs as they do not have transport.
