NOORDWESTER - GROOT MARICO - In the early hours on, 4 September, at about 05:10, a community   member who was on his way to work came to report some suspicious activity at the tower.
This was after hearing sounds coming from the tower. Shift “C” Commander, Warrant Officer Jansen van Rensburg, and his team responded swiftly to the complaint.
Upon arrival, the police heard “bang” sounds coming from the tower and tactical police cordoned off the area and managed to arrest two suspects. 

The suspects, aged between 20 and 37 were immediately arrested. They are both Zimbabwean nationals facing charges of Criminal Amendment Act 18 of 2015 and Contravention of the Immigration Act13 of  2002.
The following items were recovered: A Bosch grinder Gws 2200, a major wire cutter scrapper, one Super ego heavy duty 102/12 wrench, a wire cutter, two pairs of pliers, five screwdrivers, 13 grinder discs, a 10 pound hammer, one green crowbar, one red and blue copper wire and one tower battery was damaged.
The District Commissioner Major General Mmatlhapi Mmolawa, applauded all the members involved in protecting the infrastructure. This will send a clear message to criminals that crime does not pay.
