Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - In commemoration of 30 years of democracy, the National Youth Development Agency held an essay competition, themed “What is the significance of 30 years of democracy in South Africa? Reabetswe Ranta, Curro Klerksdorp’s headgirl, was placed second in South Africa out of more than 1 000 entries with a 95% mark.

 

 

The essays were moderated by the Literature Department at the Tshwane University of Technology and are published in a book “Corridors of Freedom”, to be found at the National Library in Pretoria.

Ratsie Motsoane (organiser and FET Phase Head), Karabo Mohale (Executive Deputy Chairperson of the National Youth Development Board), Sebolaisi Pheeha (Head of Office) and Phaladi Moruthane (communications officer) travelled from Johannesburg to hand over the prizes and wish Reabetswe, from the Office of the President, all the best and as a young woman trailblazer to continue making South Africa proud and on becoming an accomplished writer.
