A Matlosana Traffic Officer sustained serious injuries after her vehicle collided with a trailer in OR Tambo Street on Thursday evening, January 22. The officer was transporting a young man, suspected of driving under the influence. It is speculated that the officer may have skipped a red traffic light, leading to the collision. The trailer was behind a bakkie. The passenger in the patrol car was unharmed and was released from holding cells in the early hours of Friday morning, January 23. No other injuries were reported. The traffic officer, whose identity was not made public, was transported to hospital.
