Klerksdorp Midweek, Potchefstroom - North West has two contestants vying for the Miss South Africa 2024 crown. Johaneske Pelzer (23) and Onalenna Constantin (26) are both from Potchefstroom. The finalists come from eight of South Africa’s nine provinces: Gauteng leads the field with 14 contestants (with two each from Pretoria and Soweto); KwaZulu Natal has four; the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga have three each with Limpopo and North West fielding two each while Free State and Western Cape have one.

Johaneske is a photographer and has an Honours Degree in Consumer Science in Fashion Retail Management from the North West University. Her father is a primary school teacher in Potch and her mom works for the university. She matriculated at Potch Gimmies.

Onalenna is a model, a law student, entrepreneur and content creator. She wants to inspire through her story that epitomises resilience and grace. 

She would love to meet policy makers regarding the dire need for social workers in every school to ensure social justice for women and children.

The top 30 finalists were announced on Wednesday May 22. Viewers will get to meet the finalists in Crown Chasers, the reality TV show which introduces South African viewers to those vying to take the crown from the current incumbent Natasha Joubert. The six-part series starts on SABC3 on June 29, at 20:30.
