Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) held its Combined Online Provincial Championships for Schools. Nathan Strange of KHS won the Rocket League Premier division and received NW colours. The provincial championship enabled participants to qualify for MSSA’s National Team Trials (NTT) which will be used to select South Africa’s national Protea teams to attend the international events.
There were no less than six provinces represented, and more importantly, again there were more women participating. Of the 34 athletes who earned provincial colours, 11 are females.
The female esports team, AHG (PES Society), had a good showing in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports title. Of course, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is just one of the six titles which MSSA has entered to contest at IESF’s 16th World Championships.

Of special interest is the Roedean Reaper Bees (Roedean School). Even though the team made its competitive debut in this championship, the team punched well above its weight to win the women’s division.

By winning the female division, the members have all earned Senior Gauteng Provincial Colours and a berth in the National Team trials to be held later this year.
