Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - It’s that time of the year again where everyone has a new year’s resolution of getting fit and Klerksdorp Marathon Club has the perfect event for you. The annual Aurum Klerksdorp Marathon is happening once again on February 9.
The event offers the beginner an easy 5km event, the more regular runner a 10km run and the serious guys can choose between the 21km half-marathon or the 42km full qualifying marathon.
Athletes who take part in the 42km event are people aiming to compete in the Two Oceans or Comrades marathons later in the year.
The Klerksdorp marathon is the biggest marathon in the NW and attracts athletes from as far as Botswana every year. Last year 1 200 athletes took part at Hoërskool Wesvalia in the various events.
This year’s edition already promises to be bigger than the previous years with pre-entries already open since November.
The first 1 000 entries will receive a free goodie bag.
Every participant is guaranteed water points on route with cool drink and cold water as well as ‘n unique medal at the finish line.
Entries close on February 4, but there will be entries available on the Saturday before the race. Enter at www.entryninja.co.za.
