NOORDWESTER – Molopo - Dumisani Mnyandu (56) is expected to reappear in the Molopo Magistrates’ Court in Mahikeng on Thursday, 1 August, for bail application.
Mnyandu was apprehended on Thursday, 25 July, while attempting to cross the Ramatlabana Port of Entry into Botswana with a Hyundai Grand Creta vehicle. He was arrested after the circulation system showed that the vehicle he was driving, with KwaZulu-Natal registration number, was allegedly hijacked at Mbizana in the Eastern Cape, on Sunday, 14 July.

Waarskuwingsborde langs natuurreservaat opgesit
NOORDWESTER – DELAREYVILLE - Die AfriForum-tak in Delareyvile het vier nuwe waarskuwingsborde langs die Henk Joubert-natuurreservaat op die R501 opgerig om motoriste te waarsku teen wilde diere wat moontlik oor die pad kan beweeg.
Dít volg nadat die Tswaing Plaaslike Munisipaliteit nog geen poging aangewend het om ’n heining om die reservaat op te rig nie.
Die R501 tussen Delareyville en Ottosdal is ’n gevaarlike pad – nie net omdat die pad baie ongelyk is nie, maar ook omdat daar nie ’n heining om die natuurreservaat is nie.
Eight arrested for stolen stock
NOORWESTER – VENTERSDORP/KOSTER - The fight against crime in rural areas gained momentum after police arrested eight suspects in two separate incidents. In the first incident reported in the early hours of Friday, 19 July, information was received about a suspicious vehicle on the N14 road (between Ventersdorp and Carletonville).
Klerkskraal police, assisted by Potchefstroom Flying Squad managed to stop two taxi vehicles and arrested six suspects, aged between 23 and 45 after they could not account for 30 sheep and 18 goats found inside the two taxis. They appeared before the Ventersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 22 July, for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
Illegal possession of firearm and pangolin carcass
NOORDWESTER – ZEERUST - Tomeletso Johnson Matebesi (27) who was already in custody for a separate case, was also charged on illegal possession of a firearm, as well as illegal possession of a pangolin carcass at Dinokana village, Zeerust on Monday, 22 July. The accused was arrested by the Mahikeng based Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation in collaboration with Zeerust K9 and Mahikeng Tactical Response Team (TRT), following information received about an illegal firearm that was reported to be at his residential place at Dinokana.
