Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Kaizer Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge coach Vela Khumalo was pleased with his team’s effort in the DStv Diski Challenge despite finishing fifth in the table. In nine years of Diski Challenge Chiefs are yet to win the league. This season they were promising at some point but lost crucial matches to see their chances fading away.

This initiative was aimed not only to recruit talent from the townships but also to promote healthy living and professional athletics as a lifestyle among young people.
Ultra-runners complete marathon
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The N12 Ultra Marathon between Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom took place last weekend.
The race that started in Potch and ended in Klerksdorp this year was won by Maxed Elite International athlete, Tonny Skink. The 10 km race that started and ended in Klerksdorp at the Recreational Centre was won by Jerry Motsau of Athletics Central NW. The 50 km race started at 06:00 with a cut-off time of 05:49 at the NWU McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom. The 10 km race started at 07:30 at Klerksdorp Recreation Centre.
Team Tom shines in KZN
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Shinkyokushinkai KZN hosted a provincial karate tournament this past weekend at the Umlazi M hall.
The event was hotly contested by the 410 participants from all provinces, with the host having the most winners on the day.
Team Tom from Matlosana registered 37 juniors and 7 senior fighters, where they emerged victorious with 15 winners and 2 from the senior category, who both won their respective categories. The next event will be the “local is lekker” tournament which will be held at the Alabama Hall on June 15.
Big names in marathon
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The N12 Marathon will boast with some of the best runners in the country at the starting line. Onnalena Khonkhobe, David Manja, Adele Broodryk and Joel Mmone will be in the field on Saturday May 4. These stars have won national marathons and competed at national and international level, such as Khonkhobe winning the Two Oceans and Mmone competing at the World Half Marathon Championships.
