Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Aurum Klerksdorp Marathon was held the past weekend at Hoërskool Wesvalia and the race saw a record number of entries this year. This is the eight year that the marathon is held in Klerksdorp. The feedback from the 1 500 runners were all exceptional with everyone promising to return in 2026. Sunday February 9 was a hot day and not ideal for runners spending up to five hours in the sun, but amazing times were clocked. In the men’s marathon section Impala Marathon Club from Rustenburg did a clean sweep taking all three podium positions.
Klerksdorp Marathon: pre-entries have closed
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The countdown to the annual Aurum Klerksdorp Marathon has started. The event will take place this weekend, on Sunday February 9. Pre-entries closed on Tuesday February 4, but you can still enter on Saturday between 16:00 - 18:30 and on Sunday from 05:00. The event offers the beginner an easy 5 km event, the more regular runner a 10 km run and the serious guys can choose between the 21 km half-marathon and the 42 km full qualifying marathon.

Thousands expected in Ottosdal
Lentswe, Ottosdal - Ottosdal is a small town with a major sports event. The 31st Draf-en Trap will take place this weekend and the town will be bursting at the seams. According to the main organiser, Willa Naudé, about 1 600 pre-registrations were received for the event on Saturday January 25.
Help pool player to play for SA
Lentswe, Leeudoringstad - A local policeman is one of the province’s top pool players. Vincent Maphazi plays blackball and eightball and he is the 8ball NW player of the year 2024. He is affiliated with NW Pool under Eightball and under SABF under SAPS and has provincial colours under NW Pool and SA colours under SABF. Last year he qualified in Cape Town to represent SA at the EBA Nations Cup of Blackball Pool held in England.
