Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Matlosana Local Football Association will be hosting an awareness tournament for girls around the city.
It is in preparation of the newly-formed Matlosana LFA under 18 junior girls league that will be established this year. The event will take place at the Chris Hani Grounds on Saturday March 16.
Matlosana gets new tournaments
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Gesond Vilakazi, the former captain of Jomo Cosmos, is opening pathways for administrators, coaches and Matlosana to scale the heights of the football world through the introduction of the GVF Sporting Chance Programme.
The Programme is all about exposing young talent, leadership skills, how to be a role model and to adhere to the DDD (discipline, determination and dedication). The programme consists of three phases: life skills training, coaching clinics, and three football tournaments.
Riveting karate action at Matlosana Cup
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The 12th Matlosana Karate Cup was held this past weekend at the Banquet Hall. It was a scintillating experience as always, with 360 participants exchanging heavy blows.
Matlosana karate under the leadership of Sensei Thomas Mayekani, excelled, producing 27 winners on Saturday March 2 and six on Sunday March 3. “We would like to thank the organising team, parents and all visiting teams for making the event a resounding success,” said Mayekani.
Long distance queen
Dintwe Kagisho from Tshedimosetso Secondary School’s gold and silver medalist placed first in 1 500m and second in 5 000m girls u/19 at the District championships that was held at Puk McArthur Stadium at Potchefstroom.
Athletes from Excelsior
Ogone Mosala and Alberto Mogoje of Excelsior Primary School excelled at the district primary school meeting. Mosala won the 100m and Mogoje ended second in the 1 200m.
