Operation Shanela a great success
NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - As part of continuous and collaborative efforts to stamp the authority of the state, 5 993 actions executed during the high-density Operation Shanela in the last seven days led to the arrest of 699 suspects in all the districts of the province. They include the following: murder (6), rape (3), attempted murder (7), assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (117), dealing in drugs (8), illegal dealing in liquor (31), possession of drugs (119), burglaries at business and residential premises (20), driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (21) and illegal immigrants (50).
Counterfeit goods worth millions confiscated
NOORDWESTER – VENTERSDORP - The ongoing Vala Umgodi operations in the province led to the arrest of 22 suspects between Thursday, 20 and Sunday, 23 February, for contravention of Section 49 (1) (a) of the Immigration Act, 2002.
Of the 22 suspects, nine were nabbed in Tlhabane, five in Mabeskraal, five in Mooinooi and four in Mogwase. They comprise of Mozambiquan, Zimbabwean, Ethiopian, Lesotho, Malawi and Pakistan foreign nationals, as well as a South African.
