Police warn against bullying in schools
NOORDWESTER - POTCHEFSTROOM – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has expressed concern regarding repeated violent incidents at schools that required police intervention since the beginning of 2024.
In one incident reported in February, grade 11 and 12 learners fought due to bullying and Public Order Policing (POP) members were mobilised to calm down the situation. In another incident earlier this month, a common assault case was reported after a grade 8 pupil was allegedly assaulted in the bathroom by older boys.
Alleged missing docket leads to arrest
NOORDWESTER – HARTBEESFONTEIN - Ina van der Westhuizen (43) appeared in the Hartbeesfontein Periodical Court on Tuesday, 9 April for theft and defeating the ends of justice.
She was granted bail of R2000 and is expected to reappear before the court on Tuesday, 28 May.
Van der Westhuizen, who is a Sergeant stationed at Hartbeesfontein, was arrested on Tuesday, 9 April for alleged theft of a murder case docket, in which her close friend was charged.
Drugs and alcohol seized
NOORDWESTER – SANNIESHOF - Constable Nakedi and Constable Modiakgotla of Sannieshof CPU received information about a known African male person who was dealing in drugs and liquor without a license.
Information was followed up, and searches were conducted, and a female, African person was found dealing in drugs and also selling alcohol without an alcohol license.
