STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: Four suspects were arrested in Vryburg on Monday night, 8 December 2025, in connection with the possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, as well as on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
The arrests followed information received by Crime Intelligence regarding a white Ford Ranger with unknown occupants, allegedly linked to a planned murder in the Ganyesa area. Police units from the Tactical Response Team (TRT), Public Order Policing (POP) and Visible Policing (VISPOL) were deployed to locate the vehicle.

STELLALANDER-CHRISTIANA: Vinnige optrede deur ’n gemeenskapslid en inwoners het onlangs daartoe gelei dat ’n voorval van kabeldiefstal in Christiana betyds onderbreek is.
Volgens Lekwa-Teemane Plaaslike Munisipaliteit Raadslid, Theo Gerber, is ’n gemeenskapsaktivis in kennis gestel van kabeldiefstal wat aan die gang was en het hy dadelik na die toneel gegaan. Met die hulp van oplettende gemeenskapslede is die voorval gestuit voordat die verdagtes met die kabel kon vlug. Hoewel die kabel reeds beskadig is, is verdere verlies aan infrastruktuur voorkom.
SAOU skakel in by 16 Dae van Aktivisme teen geweld
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Onderwysersunie (SAOU) het op 25 November 2025 sy deelname aan die jaarlikse veldtog 16 Dae van Aktivisme teen geweld teen vroue en kinders afgeskop met ’n dag van geen geweld teen vroue.
Die unie ondersteun die nasionale tema “Letsema: Mans, vroue, seuns en dogters wat saamwerk om ’n einde aan geslagsgebaseerde geweld (GBV) te bring.” “Letsema” is ’n Sesotho-term wat verwys na ’n gemeenskapsinisiatief waarin mense saamspan om ’n gesamentlike doelwit te bereik.
Premier Mokgosi’s administrative reshuffle raises concern
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the North West has expressed concern over Premier Lazarus Mokgosi’s recent changes within the provincial administration, describing the adjustments as cosmetic and ineffective in addressing long-standing governance failures.
Premier Mokgosi announced the redeployment of several senior officials, presenting the move as an effort to “bolster administrative stability.”
Police urge vigilance during festive period
STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: As the Holiday Season phase of Operation Shanela II begins, North West police are calling on residents to remain alert and exercise caution at home, in shopping centres, at tourist destinations, and while travelling on major freeways, provincial routes and tourist corridors.
The festive period is traditionally associated with increased crime and alcohol-related incidents. Police are therefore urging the public to act responsibly and to remain aware of their surroundings.
