STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: A remarkable 47 learners from Kismet Secondary and Primary School in Vryburg showcased their talents at the 2025 Con Spirito Eisteddfod, competing in diverse categories including Reading, Public Speaking, Art, Dance, and Music. 
Of these participants, 28 distinguished themselves by advancing to the prestigious National Forte Round, a testament to their dedication and skill. STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: Public confidence in South Africa’s police force has plummeted to its lowest level on record, with only 22% of citizens expressing strong trust in law enforcement. 
This stark figure emerges from new findings by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), which shows that public trust in the South African Police Service (SAPS) has nearly halved since 1998. The data forms part of the HSRC’s South African Social Attitudes Survey (SASAS) series, which has tracked public perceptions of crime and policing annually since 2003. Each year, the HSRC conducts between 2,500 and 3,200 interviews with South Africans aged 16 and older.

STELLALANDER-VRYBURG: The Department of Transport has officially gazetted new commencement dates for the long-awaited national rollout of the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) Act. 
This includes a firm launch date of 1 September 2026 for South Africa’s driving demerit system. Published in the national government gazette, the announcement confirms that different sections of the AARTO Act will take effect in a phased approach between 1 December 2025 and 1 September 2026, putting an end to months of confusion and speculation.
