Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Publishers’ Association of South Africa (PASA) Literacy Committee celebrates the joy of reading during National Book Week, taking place from this week (September 5 to 11).
International Literacy Day was celebrated on Monday September 8. In an increasingly digital world, the simple, tactile experience of reading and sharing a book remains a powerful tool for personal development, entertainment and connection.

Reading for pleasure is a cornerstone of lifelong learning and a key to unlocking a child’s potential.

It builds empathy, allows for exploration of different worlds, cultures, and people and offers escapism and imagination. Publishers, booksellers, NGOs, librarians, authors and illustrators across the literary landscape will be working with schools, communities, and libraries to help build a love of reading and books.
