Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The new NWU School of Medicine is not just a dream anymore.

Prof Binu Luke, lead of the NWU Medical School Project, explained that phase one of the planning of the new school has been completed. He is very upbeat about the further progress of this project.

He talked to Klerksdorp Record on Wednesday April 9 sharing the good news. According to him the project has the support from the Ministries of the Departments of Health and Higher Education and Training as well as the Health Professions Council of SA.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The investigation into the murder of police sergeant Fundiswa Motlhaoleng has taken a macabre turn with the death of her husband.

Gaolekwe Daniel Motlhaoleng died on Sunday April 6. It is alleged that he drank poison soon after his wife’s murder. He has been hospitalised ever since. 

Sgt Motlhaoleng was gunned down on the afternoon of January 14 while traveling to work. She was in her vehicle when she was shot at close range. Her car was parked next to the road in Tjaart Kruger Street in Randlespark as if she stopped for someone. 

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - People were shocked to learn of the sudden death of a well-loved shopping assistant at Pick n Pay Songloed this week.

The supermarket announced the death of Erika Brits on its Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon April 8. Patrons to the store remember her as the friendly lady at the fruit and veg aisle. She died peacefully in her sleep. She was 62 years old.

Costa Demetriou of PnP Songloed describes Erika as a dedicated and loyal employee. She worked for them for over 30 years and was still on the job, two days before her death. 

Klerksdorp Record, Mahikeng - The Hawks arrested eight senior officials from the Department of Health on charges of fraud, corruption, and violations of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).

Former Heads of the Department (HOD) Lydia Kenelilwe Sebego, Dr Thabo Andrew Lekalakala, and Vuyo Sipho Welsley Mbulawa, as well as the former Chief Director, Kabelo Elliot, Director Andrew Motene, Deputy Director Ntebaleng Florence Matlapeng, and two directors of private companies, Joseph Mojoji Leshaba of Raliform Investment Holdings and Roulgh Lotwane Mabe of MR Property were arrested.
