It was a great day for the school and they were honoured by the presence of Blessing Ngwenya, a semi-finalist in the Mrs SA Pageant on Monday May 26. She hails from the dusty roads of Kanana. In her presentation, she said: “Nothing should limit your dreams. Your poor background should not determine your destiny. You have a bright future ahead.” She touched on teenage pregnancy and abuse of drugs. Learners should be proud of themselves and carry themselves with integrity. City’s waste water in the spotlight
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Executive Mayor of Matlosana hosted the Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation Sello Seitlholo on an oversight visit to assess the status of water and sanitation in the towns of Klerksdorp and Orkney in Matlosana. He was not impressed with the state of the waste water treatments plants and said it is some of the worse he has ever seen since conducting oversight visits to municipalities over the last ten months.

SAPA elects new committee
The South African Principals Association (SAPA) was abuzz with its District Elective Conference at Protea Hotel. That’s where deputy principals and principals vehemently agreed to elect men and women who will represent them for the next three years.
“Desperate for land”
Lentswe, Alabama - The community made an urgent call for action on unused land amid a housing crisis and decided to take over so-called unused land (Ext 13) two weeks ago. “The police came and threatened us with violence if we don’t get off the land,” said Gail R Mkoempe, a community representative. The group left and is at present occupying a piece of land opposite Manzilpark. According to her, they completed forms in 2023 after the local elections and then were promised houses. They were later told they were not promised houses and were only added to the database.
