Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Matlosana Municipality launched a local industrial development programme to empower local SMMEs. The municipality in collaboration with SALGA North West and Mbuso Management Solutions, supported by Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) launched the programme at Itireleng Learning Centre in Vaal Reefs on Friday February 2.
New minimum wage announced
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Department of Employment and Labour Minister Thulas Mxesi has gazetted a large increase to South Africa’s minimum wage.
Effective March 1, the minimum wage will increase from R25.42 per hour to R27.58.
This marks an 8.5% increase. The minimum wage for domestic workers and farm workers will also be raised to R27.58.
Work seekers warned not to pay for employment
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - No person may charge a fee to any work seeker for providing employment services to that work seeker. The Employment Services Act further states that a private employment agency must not deduct any amount from the remuneration of an employee or require or permit an employee to pay any amount in respect of the placing of that employee with an employer.
Bikers help Tigane schools
The Elite Riderz Bikers Club donated school shoes and calculators to schools in Tigane, Hartbeesfontein this past weekend. The handover ceremony was held at Gaenthone Secondary School where 300 school shoes and calculators were handed to the less privileged learners from Gaenthone Secondary School, Baking Primary School, Tigane Primary School and Kabelano Primary School. The president of the Bikers Club indicated that one of their mandates as the social club is to assist the less fortunate, particularly in schools.
Stolen stock halted in roadblock
Lentswe, Stilfontein - Mosimanegape Vincent Lekaota (31) was remanded in custody after appearing in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court last week for possession of suspected stolen livestock. He appeared in court on Thursday January 25 and was expected to apply for bail this week.
