Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The South African Police Service in the province is concerned about the recently reported violent incidents at schools in the province that needed police intervention since the beginning of this year.
Bus transporting learners overturns
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The North West Department of Education arranged for counselling for the learners and teachers who were on the bus that overturned near Hopetown while they were traveling back from the SA school’s championship in the Western Cape.
MEC Viola Motsumi met the athletes and teachers upon arrival back in North West. She was accompanied by a delegation from the Employee Health Wellness, and provided much-needed psychological support to the learners and teachers who were involved in the traumatic incident.
Matlosana CFO in spotlight again
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - It has come to light this week that the fraud-accused Matlosana CFO is implicated in yet another scandal.
Mercy Phetla, chief financial officer (CFO), is implicated in yet another alleged fraudulent payment of R3 million following her arrest for fraud and corruption by the Hawks earlier this year.
On Tuesday April 9 some employees from Matlosana Municipality protested outside the municipal building calling for her suspension. The police monitored a peaceful march that followed.
No RDP house, no vote
Lentswe, Jouberton - A resident of this kasi is threatening to withhold her vote.
Selina Titi Mqomboti of 4231 Ext7 east urgently needs an RDP house.
She told Lentswe she has been waiting for a house for almost 31 years.
“My kids are dead, my husband died almost 10 years ago, but still nothing. People say I must move to Jacaranda and I’ve told them the councillors and the mayor must make a plan.”
She appeals for an RDP house and said there are people in Ext7 east who have such houses.
“I am not going to vote, until I get a house!”

Lentswe, Jouberton - Thembisa Mthembu has been missing since March 31. Her family has been to the police, but she is still missing.
She is 17 years old and her family is worried sick. According to her family, she was last seen between Extension 6 and 19, corner of Coca-Cola Jouberton on March 31 at round 19:00. She was wearing a jean and a top, but they are not sure of the colours. Her home address is 18781 Ext 19 Jouberton. She is short in height, dark in complexion and has platted dreadlock.
