Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - The Stilfontein man found guilty of raping his dogs was sentenced to eight years imprisonment.
Three years of the sentence were suspended and Philip Boardman will serve an effective five year prison term. He was arrested in November last year and has been behind bars ever since.
Animal lovers reacted in shock to the news of the arrest of the middle aged man who filmed himself raping his dogs. The camera footage was reported to the Matlosana animal shelter who immediately took steps to remove the animals from the property. Boardman fled his home when the police pitched and was later lured to the animal shelter to “strike a deal’’. He was arrested at the shelter.
The dogs, four small cross breed dogs, were placed in the care of the shelter. Three of them have been adopted into loving families while one of the dogs did not recover and died.
Grant payments next week

First open heart surgery at Tshepong

IEC dismisses claims that voters must have their own pens at voting stations
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Messages circulating on social media that claim that South Africans need to bring their own black ballpoint pens to the polls on May 29 - because the ink in the pens provided ‘evaporates’ within a short period of time - are not true.
“Hi, if you decide to vote, PLEASE bring your OWN BLACK BALLPOINT PEN,” begins a message sent to Africa Check by many of its WhatsApp subscribers.
The message claims that there is ‘evidence’ that the ink in the pens provided for voting day ‘evaporates’ within a short period of time.
On May 29, South Africans will vote in national and provincial elections. For the first time, there will be three ballot papers instead of the usual two.
