Police step up in April
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Police in the province, working together with other law enforcement agencies, continue to put suspects behind bars through Operation Shanela. The police arrested 1 011 suspects for various crimes between April 1 and 7. Brig Sabata Mokgwabone, police spokesperson, said the suspects were arrested for robbery aggravating, murder, attempted murder, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and common, dealing in drugs, illegal dealing in liquor, possession of drugs, and burglary at business and residential premises, driving under the influence of alcohol and many others.
Social grant payment changes from April

Robbery in Matlosana Mall
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A shop in Matlosana Mall was robbed on Monday afternoon April 8 shortly before closing time. “The robbers pretended to be customers and produced firearms while they were in the business,” said Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson. Staff of Pep Home raised the alarm after 17:30 when the two robbers fled with cellphones and cash.
“The staff were told to give their cooperation and they would not get hurt. Their hands were tied together with cable ties. “No one was hurt.’’
