BRITS POS – BRITS - South Africa is witnessing a concerning surge in hijackings targeting ride-hailing drivers and food and parcel delivery services.
Criminal syndicates are increasingly using these sectors as easy targets, driven by a boom in e-commerce and the high demand for fast deliveries.
What’s more disturbing is that many of these hijackings are premeditated, with criminals luring their victims by ordering rides or deliveries only to ambush them when they arrive.

URGENT Assist SAPS Phokeng in Bojanala bus arson investigation
BRITS POS – PHOKENG - Police in Phokeng request community assistance with regards to two cases of malicious damage to property investigations reported in the early hours of Tuesday morning at two Bojanala Bus Depots.
It is alleged that six buses at the Bojanala Bus Depot at Chaneng and a further 17 buses at Tlaseng were set on fire.
ATTEMPTED MURDER Police officer to appear in court
BRITS POS – MARIKANA - A 47-year-old police officer made his first appearance in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 30 September, for attempted murder.
“The Police officer, who is a Sergeant attached to Marikana police station, was arrested in the early hours of the morning on Friday, 27 September 2024, in Marikana,” says Colonel Adéle Myburgh, SAPS North West spokesperson.
Huurder koelbloedig doodgeskiet
BRITS POS – BRITS – ‘n 72-jarige man is in hegtenis geneem nadat hy Sondag, 22 September, sy huurder, Frikkie Knoetze (50), op ‘n kleinhoewe op Skeerpoort, koelbloedig doodgeskiet het.
Brits Pos het met die vrou van die oorledene, Isobel Knoetze gepraat en volgens haar het sy en haar man ongeveer ses weke ‘n huis op dié kleinhoewe by die verdagte gehuur.
“Gedurende die tyd was daar kort-kort die een of ander probleem en die eienaar het, sonder waarskuwing die water en elektrisiteit na ons woning gestop,” sê Isobel.
