Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Plaaslike haarkapper Mollie Nepgen is dalk 80 jaar oud, maar van haar skêr bêre is daar nog geen sprake nie. Sy sny nog elke dag haar kliënte se hare by Ster Mans Haarkapper in Centrallaan.

Mollie se loopbaan het in 1962 op 17-jarige ouderdom begin toe sy as vakleerling by ‘n mans haarkapper begin werk. Sy het destyds by die bekende klerewinkel Des Lens in OR Tambostraat (toe Kerkstraat) begin werk. Voor in die winkel is manspakke verkoop en agter was ‘n haarsalon vir mans en vroue. Nadat sy haar vakleerlingskap daar voltooi het, het sy by verskeie manshaarkappers gewerk, onder andere vir die swears, Flip en Nols Haarkappers, en die Le Roux broers Haarkappers.

The Rotary Club of Klerksdorp delivered vegetables and soup ingredients to the Klerksdorp Community Centre (KCC) to aid their soup kitchen. They feed roughly 600 residents each week. Casey Sounes, Andreas Demetriou, Allison de Lange (President), Carmelo Graceffa and Michelle van Niekerk from the community centre can be seen with the donation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Klerksdorp Kanarieklub bied eerskomende naweek sy jaarlikse kanarieskou aan. Vanjaar is dit ‘n provinsiale skou.

Dit vind op Vrydag 9 Mei en Saterdag 10 Mei in die Jaap Steynsaal plaas. Die saal is by die Klerksdorp Rekreasiesentrum geleë.

Belangstellendes kan die voëls tussen 08:00 en 10:00 besigtig.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Peter Brown died a month and a few days short of his 91st birthday.

He was in the care of his youngest daughter, Louise Wiggett, when he died peacefully at home in Klerksdorp. For years, Peter was a well-known businessman in Welkom before he and his wife, Unie moved to Klerksdorp to stay with their daughter after surviving an attack on their farm in 2017. His wife passed away in June 2021. They were married for 65 years.

Peter was born in Standerton on May 30 1933 and grew up on the East Rand. He was the eldest of four children. He and Unie got married in 1956 and stayed in Stilfontein where he worked on the mines. There they welcomed three daughters in the world. In 1970, the Browns moved to the goldfields in Welkom where Peter started his own engineering business. In the late 1980’s he retired to farm full-time.

He is survived by two daughters, Vanda Gagiano and Louise, three grandchildren and three great grandson’s. 

A memorial service will be held in Klerksdorp on Monday April 29 at C’est La Belle at 11:00.
