Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The Paralympics are taking place in Paris with three locals representing South Africa in France.
Khumo Pitso will take part in T46 high jump, Liezel Gouws will compete in T37 200m, 400m and long jump and Lappies Swanepoel from Orkney is the main team manager for Team South Africa.
Free vaccinations for dogs and cats against rabies
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A vaccination drive, launched by the Matlosana Municipality and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, will take place next week. All vaccinations are free.
There is no crisis, this is for prevention and awareness. The vaccinations will take place between 09:00 and 15:00 on all the days.
Kanker eis geliefde pa
Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Die afsterwe van JC Nel, geliefde gemeenskapswerker en die wewenaar van die gestorwe raadslid Petro Nel wat in ‘n vliegtuig-ongeluk in Nepal oorlede is, word diep betreur.
JC het kanker gehad. Sy seun, Juan, het bevestig dat hy en sy broer langs hul pa se siekbed was. JC is op Sondag 25 Augustus in Wilmed Park oorlede. Hy was 74 jaar oud. “My pa het 13 jaar - sedert 2011 - teen kanker gestry. My ma se vliegongeluk in 2015 het dit net vererger. Die personeel by Onkologie het die familie verlede week laat weet om voor te berei vir sy dood.
“My broer, Johnny, het van Engeland ingevlieg en my pa het hom nog herken en sy hand gedruk,” vertel Juan.
JC was afgetree en het as bourekenaar gewerk. Hy het nog op konsultasiebasis gewerk. Hy is in Boksburg gebore, het op Zeerust skoolgegaan, by Kovsies studeer en na sy studies eers in Welkom en toe in Klerksdorp gewoon.
Hy was lid van Klerksdorp se Rotariërs en het al ‘n termyn as president gedien. Hy sou weer die stoel vol sit, maar het dit van die hand gewys as gevolg van sy siekte.
“Ons is baie hartseer en ons mis nog steeds my ma. Ons weet hy is nou sonder pyn en by haar,” het Juan gesê.
JC se roudiens vind op Donderdag 29 Augustus om 14:30 by die Morester-gemeente langs die N12 plaas.
Helping hand from Triest, Rotary
The Rotary Club of Orkney and Triest Centre for the Intellectually Disabled joined forces for a project at the Emmanuel Care Centre recently. The project aimed to enhance the services and facilities at the Emmanuel Care Centre, ensuring a better environment for its residents. The Rotary Club of Orkney brought their extensive experience in community service, while the Triest Centre, as part of their community responsibility, contributed their specialized knowledge and care for intellectually disabled individuals. Blankets, linen, towels, beds, jars of hope, food, clothes and books were handed over to Emmanuel Care Centre. Emmanuel, situated in Jouberton takes care of 194 elderly people and people with disabilities. Pictured is Johan and Corné Gerber with Martha Magabe, manager of Emmanuel.
