Klerksdorp Record, Alabama - The Brigade of Alabama represented Klerksdorp at the 10th Annual Regional Drill and Orchestral Competition held in Reigerpark.
They competed against six other communities and emerged victorious with an impressive 24 trophies, showing improvement from last year’s 18 trophies.
Businessman sheds kilos to win national challenge

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A Klerksdorp businessman won the national Body20 Transformation Challenge earning him the top prize of R10 000.
Charlom Enslin, a member of the Body20 Rockville Square, has lost almost 30 kg over a period of three years. He plans to still shed 15 kg.
The Transformation Challenge invited members from all 49 Body20 Studios across South Africa to share their journeys, showcasing how Body20’s Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) training leads to real results. Thousands of supporters cast their votes on the official Body20 Facebook page from September 8 to 21.
New community TV station on the air

Platinum NW TV switched on their signal this week after a struggle of ten years to get their license. The switch-on took place on Wednesday October 1.
From Oudorp to the top of the mining world

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - For the first time in its 104 year history, a woman will be in control of the world’s largest gold producer - and she is from Klerksdorp.
Natascha Viljoen grew up in Oudorp, matriculated at KHS in 1987, and went on to study metallurgical engineering at NWU before completing her MBA at UCT.
No track of kudu roaming in La Hoff

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - It is not everyday that Klerksdorpians get to see wildlife from your yard, but for residents in Boshoff Street, La Hoff that is just what they saw early on Heritage Day last week.
Earth Shepherds, a wildlife conservation NPO, was called to track a young male kudu roaming the streets of La Hoff.
Cheney Coetzee said she immediately rushed to where the animal was last spotted and drove and walked around but lost its track eventually.
